I was contracted to design a simple and compact mini pump for a vacuum-sealing luggage and backpack for a client. Given a set of reference images for the overall aesthetic of the product, I designed this pump with Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly in mind. The pump enclosure and turbine fan are made up of four ABS injection molded pieces for durability and heat resistance. The silicone button cover sits flush with the enclosure and also acts as a gasket for the internal electrical components housed inside. The electrical components include a small brushed DC motor, small PCB, a push button, USB-C charging port, and two small LIPO batteries.
